The Vietnamese government reintroduced stricter labor rules for those submitting work permit applications in Ho Chi Minh City.

Key Points:

  • Individuals submitting new work permit applications can no longer use previously issued work permits to verify their previous work experience.
  • Work permit applicants must submit Work Experience Letters issued by previous employers overseas, certifying the foreign national’s years of experience in a relevant role.
  • HCMC authorities will further scrutinize the relevance of an applicant’s degree to the occupation to which they are applying.
  • Foreign nationals will no longer be able to work in another province or city for up to six months using a work permit issued in another province or city.
  • Individuals must submit a notarized copy of their passport (for applicants in Vietnam) or legalized copy of their passport (for applicants outside Vietnam) when applying for a work permit.
