Peru’s government enacted legislation introducing a resident visa for digital nomads on Nov. 14.

Key Points:

  • The decree, published in El Peruano Official Gazette, amends the Migration Law to allow foreign nationals who work subordinately for a company outside Peru to apply for a resident visa.
  • The new visa is valid for up to one year and can be extended.
  • The visa does not allow foreign nationals to develop activities that earn income from a Peruvian source.

BAL Analysis: Eligibility requirements have not yet been published. The digital nomad visa will provide a new immigration pathway for remote workers aimed at attracting greater foreign investment and talent. BAL will continue to provide updates once the regulations are published and the visa officially becomes available.
