Irish officials have advised employers on an interim measure for Galway-based renewals of residence permissions.

Key Points:

  • Individuals will be permitted to remain on the existing conditions of their current IRP card, including labor market access, if the IRP card has expired and they are unable to obtain a valid registration card by the expiration date of their current IRP card.
  • Individuals are required to provide proof that they have applied for and secured an appointment in the Galway immigration office to renew their residence permission prior to their current IRP card expiring, including when intending to change stamp category.

Additional Information: Officials stated that all appointments in the Galway immigration office will be confirmed via email. The Galway immigration office is currently experiencing a significant volume of applications and backlogs, with appointments currently not available before April 2025. Irish officials are working toward a solution to address the current Galway-based application backlogs.
