“Success for me is delivering the best service possible. Providing excellent legal expertise is a given; partnering with care, compassion and a good sense of humor is a must.”
Frieda is BAL’s Managing Partner and directs the firm’s delivery of worldwide immigration services to multinational clients, impacting tens of thousands of their employees around the globe. She plays a critical role in developing and implementing the firm’s strategic plans and objectives, navigating challenges in the immigration landscape in order to provide exceptional service. Frieda ensures BAL doesn’t follow trends — it sets them. Her unique approach to leadership nurtures an organizational model that incentivizes collaboration and teamwork instead of competition — a rare feat in the legal industry. This oneBAL culture frees BAL from the traditional limitations of law firms. BAL attorneys share information and resources across teams and offices, enabling clients to gain efficiencies and benefit from the expert knowledge of the entire firm. Highly regarded for her legal expertise, Frieda represents leading multinationals in Silicon Valley, overseeing some of the largest global mobility programs in the technology, finance and travel-service industries. She advises on global immigration initiatives, the development and implementation of best-in-class global programs and compliance obligations. Frieda inspires the next generation of lawyers not only through her successful career but also by generously giving her time. As a working mother, she mentors young attorneys, especially women, in building their practices and balancing work and family life. Frieda’s influence is real: Women make up 65% of BAL attorneys, and the firm is ranked #1 on major national diversity rankings including Law360’s Glass Ceiling Report of Best Law Firm for Female Attorneys and the National Law Journal’s Women in Law Scorecard for multiple consecutive years. Frieda blazed trails throughout her life, from her childhood in war-torn El Salvador to her role as the first Hispanic and first female managing partner in BAL’s history — the highest-ranking female partner at the second largest immigration firm in the country. Her family’s own immigrant experience motivated Frieda to pursue immigration law, and her childhood challenges shaped her strong belief in inclusiveness. Frieda is an active member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association and was named a Top Latino Lawyer by Latino Leaders Magazine.
