IMPACT – HIGH

Japan has announced that it will resume inbound travel for some residents and business travelers.

Key Points:

  • Residents, including students and dependents, and business travelers may now be eligible to enter Japan, regardless of their country of origin, provided they meet certain criteria.
  • Travelers must be hosted by a company or other entity that can ensure quarantine measures are observed.
  • The number of people permitted to enter Japan under this arrangement will be restricted.
  • More information on the visa application process for eligible foreign nationals under the “Residence Track” or “Business Track” of this arrangement can be found here. To view the relevant entry procedures, please click here.

Background: Before Oct. 1, Japan had restricted entry for dozens of nationalities. The change will allow residents and business travelers from any country to travel to Japan, provided they meet other eligibility criteria.
